Want to improve your career prospects after obtaining a human resource management degree? Getting certified may make you stand out in the candidate pool, show the hiring manager your determination, and potentially help you enjoy better career prospects.

An HR certification may help you climb the corporate ladder and improve your chances of being hired in a lead role. You may gain a competitive edge and more knowledge, which may make you more hireable than non-certified candidates. Plus, HR certifications may add more value to your profile and increase your earning potential.

HR Certifications

  SHRM – CP

The Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional or SHRM – CP certificate can be acquired after you have gained one year of experience following a bachelor’s degree. If your qualifications are less, you will need an experience level of three years before you can apply for this certification. As an SHRM – CP practitioner, you will be expected to deliver HR services and perform other operational functions.

  SHRM – SCP

The Society of Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional or SHRM – SCP certification can be obtained with three to seven years of experience. In such a role, you will be leading HR functions and be aligning HR strategies to business objectives.

  PHR

You can apply for a Professional in Human Resource or PHR certification when you have spent two to four years in the field, but do not have enough skills or in-depth knowledge for a senior level HR generalist role.

  SPHR

The Senior Professional in Human Resource or SPHR certification can be obtained with six to eight years of experience in the field. As an SPHR certification holder, you will be accountable for the HR Department, managing relationships, and influencing the organization.
