Does your school offer Financial Aid?

Yes, financial aid is available to those who qualify. Each student will work individually with their Admissions rep and financial aid rep. Over 85% of Bay State College students receive some form of Financial Aid.  The College offers several types of scholarships and grants.

What is the cost of tuition?

Tuition charges are assessed on a per credit hour basis. This provides students with maximum flexibility based on individual financial and academic needs. The pricing is customizable, making Bay State College more personal and affordable. What is the acceptance criteria for your programs?

The acceptance criteria differs by program.
 

All applicants must:

  • Submit a complete application
  • Secure the recommendation of an Assistant Director of Admissions
  • The admissions office reserves the right to request additional supporting material

To be considered for acceptance into our Associate Degree programs:

  • A minimum Grade Point Average of 2.0 out of a 4.0 scale
  • Letter(s) of recommendation are encouraged

To be considered for acceptance into our Bachelor Degree programs:

  • A minimum Grade Point Average of 2.3 out of a 4.0 scale is expected
  • A minimum of one letter of recommendation is required unless candidate has a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5 out of a 4.0 scale

Do you have an application deadline?

Bay State College has rolling admissions with the exception of our Nursing program. Please refer to the Nursing Admissions Criteria for cohort deadlines.

Bay State College is located in the heart of the Back Bay of Boston, Massachusetts. The College’s location affords students the ability to take advantage of numerous educational, employment, social, and cultural opportunities.

There are approximately 800 Full-time and Part time students.

Will Bay State College help me find a job after I graduate?

Yes. Our Career Services Office is available to all current students and graduates. 

How do I get my transcript?

To receive a copy of your transcript, you must fill out a transcript request form found on the Office of the Registrar page of our website. You may also call the Office of the Registrar at 617-217-9044.

How many credits are required for an Associates Degree vs. Bachelor's Degree?

Associates Degree: 60 Credits

Bachelor's Degree; 120 Credits

How do you communicate with your current student population and your alumni population about career opportunities?

The Office of Career Services is very involved with both current students and alumni.  Our website has a Job Listings page that is updated will all current opportunities.

Bay State College also uses social media outlets such as LinkedIn and Facebook to connect with our students past and present. 

How do I look for an internship when I first get to school?

Internships are a big part of the Bay State College experience.  We hope to give our students as much hands-on experience in their desired field as we can.

Do you offer study abroad programs?

Yes.  Bay State College is a partner of the Suffolk University Study Abroad and Syracuse University Study Abroad programs. Through these programs students can customize their study abroad experiences to best match their academic, career and travel interests. Full-year, semester and summer programs are offered. Language skills are not required for most locations prior to your departure but will be a part of your studies when you arrive.

How long is the academic year?

Bay State College's Day program has a traditional academic calendar year with a Fall and Spring semester. Evening and Online programs are held in 8-week terms throughout the year with six start dates providing flexibility.

Bay State College also offers a Summer Session that allows students to catch up or get ahead. 

 

Do you take part time students?

Yes, students are encouraged to take classes that best fit their schedules. Bay State College offers evening classes in both Boston and Taunton and 100% online classes that give you the flexibility to learn just about anywhere. 

Does the school help its students find jobs?

Yes. Bay State College's Career Services team works with students from the moment they step foot on campus.  They are available to help find you an internship, prepare for interviews, and eventually help you find a job once you graduate. Their guidance will even be available to you beyond your time here at Bay State.

When do online classes begin?

Online terms begin every eight (8) weeks. There are six (6) terms each year: Fall I & II, Spring I & II, and Summer I & II.

How many online courses should I take per term?

We recommend that each student enroll in two online courses per term. However, it is up to your discretion whether you would like to enroll in one or more classes.

How much time will I need to dedicate to my online classes each week?

We suggest that you allow for 10-15 hours per week for each class you are enrolled in.

Who teaches my online classes?

Most of our online classes are taught by the same professors who teach classroom courses at our Boston and Taunton, MA campus locations.

How much does an online class cost?

I have an extremely busy work and home life. Is the online program for me?

The most successful online learners are dedicated, excited self-starters. In most cases you will be able to complete your work on your schedule, but you will need to make sure to stay organized, participate in regular online discussions, and meet weekly deadlines.

Are the online programs accredited?

Yes. Bay State College is accredited by NEASC, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Is there a tutoring service available for online students?

Yes. SmartThinking provides real-time, live tutors 24/7 as well as an online writing lab for help with essays and written assignments.

As an online student, what kind of support can I expect?

Our classes are small and our dedicated faculty are available for assistance throughought the duration of each term. Students should not hesitate to contact their instructors for help.

Tech support is available 24/7 online or via phone at 877-312-2846.

Library services are available 24/7. Students can remotely access the on campus library databases and other library resources. During staffed library hours the Bay State College librarians are available to assist students via chat, phone or in person.

What are the computer requirements for participation in an online program?

How much is the application fee?

We have a $40 application fee for international applicants.

Is Bay State a two year college or a four year college?

Both! We offer both Bachelor's degrees and Associates degrees. For a full list of our programs, click here.

If a student has a GED would they be allowed to apply?

Yes. Bay State College welcomes applicants with GEDs.

Is it possible to do your nursing program as a part time student?

No, as of right now we do not have a part time option for the Nursing program.

Bay State College recommends that each student enroll in two courses per term. This means that a student would complete two courses every 8 weeks.

Most of our evening classes are taught by professors who are currently working in their field. You can begin making professional connections inside the classroom!

Is financial aid available?

Financial aid is available to those who apply and qualify. Each student has the opportunity to meet with his or her dedicated tuition planner and discuss his or her financial aid options in more detail. Your tuition planner can also help you complete your FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
