3HED: What Can You Do With a Degree in Management?

DEK: If you’re looking to expand your horizons, you’ve come to the right spot.

Where can a student go with a degree in Management? Almost anywhere. Just about every level of every industry has managerial positions. From human resources to healthcare, finance, digital marketing to security, good managers don’t just keep businesses running smoothly; they help everyone on their team reach their potential.

If you’re interested in management, you should know that the market for management careers is expanding. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, the management job market has been projected to grow 8% between 2016 and 2026. And those jobs range widely from small businesses to large ones, from fashion to healthcare. Here are just a few types of management positions that could be available to a Bay State College graduate with a Management degree:

Digital Marketing Manager. Marketing is at the core of any successful company. Digital marketing managers use the latest technologies and platforms to create campaigns that promote their company and increase brand awareness, as well as direct traffic to their company’s website to engage consumer interest in their products or services.

Healthcare Manager. Healthcare Management straddles the worlds of health and business. Healthcare managers plan, direct, and coordinate medical and health services. These managers could be in charge of a biotech lab, a physician’s medical practice, or an entire hospital, and they must be up on the latest in healthcare laws, technology, and services, and direct changes accordingly.

Financial Manager. Responsible for the financial health of an organization, financial managers analyze markets, produce financial reports, direct investment activities, and develop strategies for the long-term financial goals of their organization. They then work to implement those strategies.

Human Resources Manager. Critical to any successful institution, a human resources manager is the liaison between the employees and the administration. Handling all facets of employee management, they work to ensure fair practices in hiring, engagement, and problem-resolution.

Cloud Security Risk Manager. As most organizations have shifted their business data from traditional locations to cloud service access, the risks to that data’s safety have multiplied. A cloud security risk manager focuses on security risk and compliance, working to keep an organization’s data safe from any illegal access.

Bay State College has industry-specific management concentrations in their Management Bachelor’s Degree program to help launch your careers in any of these fields. If you see yourself leading a team in just about any field you can think of, a Management degree may be the best place to start.
