On the morning of Wednesday, April 23rd, four Bay State College DECA members met their advisor at Logan Airport for the first leg of their journey to the 53rd DECA International Career Development Conference.  The conference was held in Washington, D.C. from the 23rd through the 26th

All four students were attending their first DECA ICDC and each was involved in competition.  Prsni competed in the Corporate Finance event; Fabiola in Human Resource Management; Andrew in Sales Manager Meeting; and Omar in Marketing Management.  In addition to competition, students attended seminars and career academies in their respective areas.  More than 1,300 college students from the United States and Canada were in attendance.

Our chapter also submitted an entry for the Passport Program and was awarded the Presidential Award which is the highest award level in this program.  The award reads in part, “Bay State College is recognized for achieving the Leadership Passport Presidential Award … efforts to engage in educational activities throughout the year.”  Nicole was the project manager for this program and activities included a clothing and cash drive for Rosie’s Place, Professional Development Day, Global Entrepreneurship Event, and creation of a video about our chapter.  Professor Elena Swaim is the chapter advisor here at BSC and also serves as the Massachusetts association advisor.

Winning three out of a possible four medals in her event, Prsni finished in the top 10 internationally in the Corporate Finance Event.

Congratulations to our DECA team for all of their accomplishments!
