Meet the Management - Music Industry Faculty: Steven Theodoridis
Name: Stephen Theodoridis (AKA Steve Theo)
What do you teach at Bay State?
Management - Music Industry internship classes, as well as advisor to the Bay State College Radio station.
If you were not a teacher, what would you do?
I am an adjunct at Bay State, teaching 3-4 classes a year. Otherwise I’m running my radio promotions agency, Pirate! so I’d still be doing that.
Pirate! is a promotion & marketing agency. We work with artists, bands, record labels, brands, events & more. Promoting their music, product or service to radio stations, college students, websites, & tastemakers across North America. We are a team of music industry professionals (and more importantly fans) who strive to be the best independent music and marketing team there is.
What is the one important life lesson you’d like your students to know?
Start early when it comes to networking/meeting people within fields you may want to work/study/etc. “It’s all about who you know” is magnified tenfold in the music industry.
If you could meet any historical figure, who would it be and why?
Martin Luther King, because of his great work for human rights.
If you were to create a slogan of your life, what would it be?
The best Pirate! you can get.
What’s your go-to order at Starbucks?
Trenta Iced Red Eye, no room, no sweetener!
What’s something you would have done differently as a college student?
Get to know more of my classmates and stay in touch with them (essentially, be a better networker earlier in life).
What’s your favorite restaurant in Boston?
What was your first job?
My first paid music business job was a college rep for Sony Music. Before that I did everything from bag groceries at Stop and Shop to data entry at a monument business to snack bar manager at a hockey rink.
