Looking Back on 2013 at Bay State College
It happens every year. The month of December rolls around and we can’t believe how fast another year has gone by. 2013, in particular, was an important year for the College in many ways.
We launched new programs, offering degrees in Healthcare Management, Management Information Systems and Accounting. We started enrolling students in our new RN to BSN and Information Technology programs that will launch in January.
We watched the progress of our new Taunton campus go from a construction site to a top of the line facility, and got the chance to celebrate this big milestone with our students and the community of Taunton.
In April, our hometown, the city of Boston, went through one of its most trying times in the city’s long history. The events of Boston Marathon weekend, though tragic, brought out the best in the people of Boston and brought our college community closer together.
We celebrated as the Red Sox, against all odds, clinched the World Series title just blocks away from our campus, and cheered as the duck boats made another trip down Boylston Street.
With all of that said, we know that some of Bay State’s biggest stories from 2013, your stories, never made their way into a press release or to the front page of the newspaper. But that doesn’t make them any less important.
Being the first person in your family to sit down in a college classroom.
Getting an A on that exam and proving to yourself that you’re a much stronger student than you ever thought.
That moment during your internship when you realized this is exactly what you want to do with your life.
Receiving that diploma after years of hard work, and celebrating with the people who supported you all along.
We hope as you ring in the New Year and look forward to all 2014 has in store, you also remember what has been accomplished in the last 12 months. Be proud of yourselves. We certainly are.
