Lemon Drop Team - Hospitality Management Alumni Success

“Take every opportunity you’re given and get as much experience as you can – success doesn’t come overnight.”

Our latest alumni interview was certainly the “sweetest” one we’ve had so far. We got the chance to meet up with Linda Lee, owner and founder of Lemon Drop Team, a wedding day-of coordination and custom sweet tables design company based in Boston.

Linda enrolled in Bay State College’s Hospitality Management program in the fall of 2005 and truly made the best out of her time here. In addition to being actively involved on campus, Linda also took the opportunity through the College to participate in the Walt Disney World Intern program for one semester.

“It was such a great opportunity for me,” said Linda. “When you think of great hospitality, you think of Disney.  It was amazing to get to learn and work with the best.”

Her internship had her working hard, 6 days a week at different hotels across the Walt Disney World Resort, but the whole experience gave her a firsthand look at the industry she otherwise would have never had.

After graduating from Bay State, Linda relocated to Las Vegas to further her education and knowledge of the industry. She attended the International School of Hospitality for In-Conference Management & Event Planning.  Linda has worked in higher-end hotels and has managed concierge for high profile clients in luxury condominiums. After several years and a move back to Boston, Linda decided it was time to start her own business.

“I started this company by working my other full-time job and building a portfolio and planning weddings for free,” said Linda. “Once I had a solid portfolio of weddings and things started to take off, I learned a lot about building a business – from launching a website, to handling finances.  It's a lot of work, but I love what I do.”

This time of year, Linda is booked solid from May through October with events every weekend.  We appreciate her taking the time to update us on her success!
