Information Technology Program to Launch Spring 2014
It’s official! In January 2014, Bay State College will launch its first Information Technology degree program. As Program Chair of the new IT department, I can assure you we’re hard at work making this a comprehensive program focusing on real-world skills and hands on experience.
One thing I’ve learned as an active IT professional is that there’s more to IT work than simply manning the help desk and fixing old computers. If you’re a good problem-solver and have strong technical abilities, a degree in information technology can lead to a rewarding, high-paying career in a rapidly growing field.
Businesses run on information and communications technologies, ranging from smartphones to tablets, from cloud computing to networked mainframes. The people who manage computer systems, design and safeguard computer networks, or train users are in great demand. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, two of the five fastest-growing careers in 2016 will be in IT, with more jobs than qualified applicants in many IT-related fields. Total job growth by 2020 is projected to be over 22%. To top it all off, these are some of the most interesting and rewarding career choices: US News ranked four IT careers in the top ten of its annual “100 Best Jobs” report.
Why choose Bay State College for your degree in Information Technology?
Faculty with real-world experience
You won't be learning your skill-set from just anyone. These professors have been professionals in the IT industry for years. In Information Technology, it is essential to have the most recent knowledge and experience available.
Small class sizes
Our small class sizes mean that your professor will know you by name. With less students, the classroom becomes a place where ideas and questions can flow freely. It facilitates an atmosphere that makes learning more like a discussion than a lecture.
Flexibility & Convenience
Our new IT program will be offered in the day and evening, at both the associate and bachelor's level. This makes it easier to find a schedule that fits your life.
