Healthcare Management Online - Student Feature

As a secretary at a local doctor’s office, Leslie D. has seen what it takes to advance in the medical field.  And at the top of that list is a college degree.

Being a mom and a working professional is a lot on one person’s plate. Add going to college to that list, and it might seem overwhelming. But as Leslie explains, earning her Healthcare Management Degree online has been the best option for her.

“The online program at Bay State College has given me a lot of flexibility,” she says.  “If I have a few minutes during lunch, I’ll answer some questions. And taking care of my coursework can always wait until 8 or 9pm at night, after I’ve made sure my family is all set.”

As Leslie gains more experience in her field and combines that with the knowledge she’s gaining in the classroom, her hope is that down the road she’ll be able to be promoted to Office Manager at a private practice.

Another great benefit from going back to school - She’s setting a great example for her three children.

“The kids enjoy that I’m going back to school,” says Leslie. “They ask a lot of questions about college and online classes, so even at a young age they’re into it now, and I’m proud of that.”
