Faculty Industry Experience Enhancing the Learning Environment at Bay State College
Imagine learning to play baseball from someone who had never held a bat, or to fly a plane from someone who had just read how to do it in a book. It just doesn’t make sense. It is our philosophy that experience makes for a better teacher, and that’s evident in the expertise and background of our full-time and adjunct faculty.
The vast majority of our professors have either full-time work experience in their industry or extensive consulting experience working with businesses, and they continue to be active in their industry and in their local professional associations, bringing these real-world experiences and perspectives into the classroom each and every day.
A great example of this is one of our new business faculty members, Christina Inge. Over the course of her career, Christina has served as the head of marketing departments, VP of Programming-Education & Content for the American Marketing Association, and recently launched her own company, Sleek Marketing University.
Sleek Marketing University teaches the latest digital marketing techniques to help startups, small businesses, and nonprofits reach new audiences cost-effectively.
And she’s bringing this all to the classroom.
“I got into teaching because I was inspired by wonderful teachers when I was in college,” says Inge. “I wanted to help other people have opportunities open up to them. The best part about teaching is hearing from students after they graduate that they are in their dream jobs because of knowledge they gained in my class.”
