Alumni Success - Hospitality Management
Blue Man Group is one of Boston’s most popular on-going stage shows for children and adults alike. And one of our very own graduates found a home there after graduating from the Hospitality Management program in 2013.
Erika Norville, originally from Virginia, fell in love with the city of Boston on her first visit. She decided that she wanted to attend college up in the Northeast, and spent a semester at a local community college before transferring to Bay State to pursue her dream of getting a Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management.
“The thing I loved most about the program at Bay State was that all of my professors had some kind of industry experience outside of just teaching,” says Erika. “They were able to offer you contacts or even just stories of their experiences doing the work they were training us for.”
Erika became an active student around campus for the three and a half year she was here, and even took on two internships in the Hard Rock Café’s Sales and Marketing Office. The Hard Rock provided a great place for her to gain experience, and connected her with their partners over at Blue Man Group.
When a job opened up at Blue Man Group, Erika decided to take advantage of the opportunity. For the past couple years, Erika has worked as a Group Sales Associate; generating new group business, managing ticket logistics for large groups, and maintaining a high level of communication between organizations attending the show and the Boston Office’s Sales and Marketing Staff.
“It’s great being able to represent such a fun show, and I really love all of the customer interaction I get with the job. I always stay busy.”
This spring, Erika is taking on a new adventure as she moves back down south (we don’t blame her after this winter!) to South Carolina. Just recently, she accepted a position on the Sales and Event Marketing team at AMF Bowling, a corporation with bowling centers across the country.
We wish her luck in her future endeavors! Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, Erika!
