Accepted Student Feature: Elysha Pare

Elysha P. was born and raised in Enfield, CT, and enlisted in the US Military her junior year of high school.  As a soldier, Elysha served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, and Kuwait working in flight operations for 4 years.  After returning back to the US in March, Elysha knew she wanted to go to college, earn her degree, and live life as a civilian for a while.

Her search lead her to one specific program here at Bay State College - The Criminal Justice Program’s Domestic & International Security Concentration. With her military background, the program is the perfect fit and Bay State College's designation as a Military Friendly School has proven to be true throughout her admissions process.

“At the end of all of this, I would love to join one of the agencies with 3 letters (i.e. CIA or FBI),” she says.   “I think I’ve found a passion for law enforcement and serving my country. With my background in Criminal Justice from Bay State College, maybe I’ll even go on to study anti-terrorism as a graduate student somewhere.  I’m just really excited to get to go to college.”

Today, America finds itself surrounded, domestically as well as internationally, by those who potentially could do us harm.  This fact is driving new initiatives in security as both a science and a profession, spearheaded by our government’s own Department of Homeland Security and anti-terrorist efforts.  At the same time, a different and yet very similar undeclared war is raging in cyberspace, as highly organized teams of hackers seek to penetrate our software defenses and disrupt our most sensitive and important data systems. Our Criminal Justice Degree with a concentration in Domestic and International Security prepares you to serve a role in this important work.
