10 Things To Do on a Student's Budget this Fall

Taking some time to look into free and discounted events for students can save you a significant amount of money and will let you meet a ton of new people in "America’s college town."

Check out some of our suggestions for things to do this fall!

1. Collegefest 2013
   CollegeFest is the most heavily attended back-to-school festival in the country. Held in Boston since 1985, CollegeFest attracts more than 15,000 students from 30+ New England area colleges. CollegeFest is a 2-day celebration of college life, blending performances from nationally renowned artists with student entertainment and local artists rounding out multiple stages. 15,000 attendees expected.
2. Bay State College Student Life
   Whether it be trips to the movies, the aquarium, or one of Boston Harbor’s beautiful islands, we’re always organizing free or discounted events for our students. To stay up to date on events being offered, connect with Bay State Student Activities on Facebook.
3. Tour Fenway Park
   Red Sox fan or not, this is a Boston must-see. Don't forget to bring your student ID for a discounted price. 
4. Tour the Massachusetts State House
   Explore the Massachusetts State House, the oldest building on Beacon Hill, with a 45-minute tour. Tour season lures visitors from across the globe to the gilded dome of the State House. Officials say about 90,000 visitors tour the building's interior each year.
5. Visit the Boston Harbor Islands
   Boston Harbor Islands are one of Boston's best kept secrets. Starting May 5, grab some friends, pack a cooler, and spend the day fishing, swimming, kayaking, or just soaking up the scenery.  $16 for adults, $14 for seniors, $12 for students, children, and military.
   Tours run 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily, every hour on the hour.    
6. Visit the Museum of Fine Arts
   Grab a dose of culture! Containing over 450,000 works of art, the MFA is one of the most comprehensive collections in America. Free admission to the Museum for all undergraduate students and discounts on Museum Shop purchases upon presentation of a college photo ID.
7. Walk along the Charles River
   If you’re in Boston on a day when it’s warm, spend some time walking along the Charles River. It’s a great way to get some exercise, fresh air, and see the city from a different perspective. Highly recommended!
8. Boston Library Discounts for Boston Attractions
    If you have a Boston library card, you can find discounts to free events and discount attractions like the Aquarium, Museum of Science, Boston on Foot, ICA, Zoo New England, J.F.K. Library & more.
9. AMC Loews Boston Common 19 & AMC Chestnut Hill
   $3 off movie tickets every Thursdays with valid college ID
10. Kings Boston
    College Night starting at 9pm with bowling and games for $2 (free in September 2013)
