Library Services

Computers and Printing

The Library has 20 computer workstations for academic use. Print jobs should be done at the print kiosks or computer labs. Students can make color prints by emailing their documents to library@baystate.edu. Color prints are 20 cents per page.

Wireless Internet Access

For wireless internet access in the library, enter your full Bay State College email address and email password at the Aruba login screen. For help logging in, please contact IT at 617-217-9122 or helpdesk@baystate.edu.

Library Orientations

All Bay State College students are introduced to the Library at an orientation session with their English class. In addition, students in selected General Education courses are required to receive research instruction for their Annotated Bibliography project. Instructors, including those who would like to schedule a course-specific research session, should contact the librarian at jneave@baystate.edu to set up an appointment.

Reserve Textbooks

Many, but not all, of the textbooks used each semester are kept on Reserve behind the front desk. These textbooks can be used in the library for a two hour period with a BSC ID, and cannot be removed from the Library under any circumstances. Reserve textbooks from one campus cannot be transferred to another campus. Please check the library catalog or with the front desk to see which textbooks are available.

Copy Machine

There is one photocopy machine in the Library for student use. Copies are 10 cents each. Library staff can make color copies for students; color copies are 20 cents each.

Inter-library Loan

The Bay State College Library participates in an inter-library loan program with the Massachusetts Library System. Students or faculty interested in requesting an item through inter-library loan should email library@baystate.edu to request an item. Please note that other libraries have restrictions on items they lend to other libraries (for example, most do not lend textbooks).

Document delivery of PDFs of individual book chapters and individual journal articles held in the BSC Library's print collection is available to current faculty, staff, and students who cannot visit the physical campus, within limits defined by copyright law.
