Criminal Justice Program Mission 

The Criminal Justice Program provides an integrated course of study in science and humanities in order to prepare students for this complex and rapidly changing field. The Program provides inter-disciplinary course work which fosters critical thinking, humanistic reflection, and the ability to innovate. This program will prepare students to enter a wide array of criminal justice fields or graduate study. 

Cloud Security Risk Management Program Learning Outcomes 

Upon completion of the Bay State College Baccalaureate of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Cloud Security Risk Management, students will: 

  1. Understand the origins and historical development of the field of security as well as the fundamental principles of cyber security and risk management. 
  2. Understand the major theories surrounding approaches to cyber security and computer crime and be able to adapt these approaches to organizational, state, national and global contexts.  
  3. Understand the compliance implications of selected cloud security policies and methods with specific focus  on the NIST Risk Management Framework and FedRAMP.   
  4. Be able to analyze cyber security within a larger context of the philosophy of technology and specific theories of modernity from major contributors in the field such as Lewis Mumford, Jacques Ellul, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Karl Marx.  
  5. Be able to apply NIST RMF/FedRAMP by way of completing project deliverables and communicating project results.  
  6. Be able to develop the capability to evaluate a test system, develop a security plan, select, edit, and write appropriate security controls and document results.  
  7. Be able to evaluate system security and analyze system assessment reports to make recommendations for a plan of action and milestones, as well as to comply with Authorization to Operate package requirements and develop Information Security Continuous Monitoring Strategy.
  8. Be able to examine tools and techniques used by security professionals and ethical hackers to protect computer networks and organizational assets in the cloud.
  9. Be able to analyze how cyber- crime intersects with issues of terrorism and comes to be considered cyber-warfare and/or cyber-attacks.  
  10. Be able to place cyber security into a larger context of global resiliency and sustainability in order to create integrated solutions that are consistent with the larger realities of the volatile social, political, economic, and natural environments of our modern world.
