Zobedia L.
Student, Criminal Justice

Our professors push you to think critically, and not stick to just the textbook information. They push you to look beyond what’s in front of you.
Zobedia L. did some serious sleuthing before deciding that the Criminal Justice track at Bay State was for her. Although she had worked in the accounting field for 15 years, she found herself being drawn to a new career direction.
“I always have been curious about investigative work,” she explains. “With technology advancing in the criminal justice field, forensic accounting interested me. It’s the pieces of a large puzzle that you’re putting together, making them fit to tell you the story of what happened.”
Searching for a college that would let her pursue this concentration, Zobedia discovered Bay State’s Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. “I didn’t want to just be a number at a large university,” she says. “Bay State was perfect.”
Although concerned at first that her study skills were “rusty,” Zobedia found that her personal motivation and the support of her professors gave her confidence. “My concentration is demanding, but any concentration is demanding,” she says. “You have to decide what kind of student you want to be. If you are willing to improve yourself, your professors are there for you.”
Now as she prepares for a career in tracking down white-collar criminals, Zobedia thinks her Bay State experience has truly sharpened her professional focus. “From the moment I started, I felt like I was getting a quality education here,” she smiles.
