Marquis H.
Business Student

Most colleges are huge, so that students don't really interact with each other. Here, everybody knows everyone – and that’s a good thing.

It didn’t take Marquis long to get down to business at Bay State College – literally. While still in his first year, Marquis already has declared his major in Business Administration. “Honestly, I didn't know what I wanted to do after high school,” he says. “Then some Bay State recruiters did a presentation about the College at our school and I was impressed. It sounded like an interesting place.”
Marquis remembers that two aspects of Bay State that attracted him the most. “I liked that it was not a big school, but a private college where the professors are dedicated to helping their students,” he says. “The other thing that sold me was their location, right in the heart of Boston, so it's easy to get around. When I visited the College, I loved it and decided to come.”
As a Bay State student, Marquis has adapted quickly into the rhythm of the College community, making friends with dorm-mates, hitting the books every night, and even taking on a part-time job at a nearby department store. “The College even helped me with that,” he says, “by holding a job fair with local businesses on campus.”
What’s Marquis’ advice to next year’s freshmen? When selecting a college, make sure they can live up to their reputation. “If you’re interested in Bay State, you should sit in on a class or maybe meet with some of the teachers,” he says. “You’ll see that people here actually do care. They're here to help.”
