Online Managment Student, Barbara H.

“My youngest child is now in her third year of college. After waiting for so long, I decided that it's my turn to complete what I had wished for long ago.”

Online student Barbara Hayes is no stranger to the hallways of Bay State College.  In 1980 she graduated from the College with an associate degree in business.  Thirty years and 3 children later, Barbara has returned to Bay State because of the flexibility and convenience of the online division.

“I had always thought about returning to school to complete my BS,” says Barbara.  “Back then I had secretly wished that I could have attended a four year college, but being the oldest of six, there was no way my parents could have afforded it”.

With her associate degree in business, Barbara landed herself some good jobs, but in the back of her mind she always knew she could take her career to the next level with a bachelor’s degree. As the years went by, she tried a few times to apply to bachelor programs, but raising her family always took priority to making time for school.

Barbara vowed that all of her children would earn bachelor’s degrees- a promise she kept.  Now, as her youngest child begins her third year of college, it’s finally Barbara’s time to pursue her dream.

“When I found out that Bay State now offered an online bachelor’s degree in business, I jumped at the chance,” says Barbara.  “I can earn my BS so quickly and can do it all from home. Though I have never met their Online Student Coordinator (also named Barbara!) in person, I feel a tremendous amount of support – she is a great coach who has helped me through this transition.”
