Meet Musician and Bay State College Career Services Advisor, Doug Sherman.
July 10, 2012
The Career Services team at Bay State College is tasked with taking our students and placing them in internships and jobs that will set them up for success. They are the liaison between our students and the “real world” and their connections are imperative for the future of our students and the college.
Doug Sherman joined the team in February of 2011 as the Career Services Advisor for students in our Criminal Justice and Entertainment Management programs, and is well suited for the position.
Doug graduated from Berklee School of Music here in Boston and followed his passion for music around the world as the guitarist in the bands SuperHoney and GOZU. Their songs have been featured in TV Shows such as NBC’s “AWAKE” and MTV’s “Road Rules”. Doug has taken part in recording over 30 albums and has earned 10 Boston Music Award Nominations.
Aside from music, Doug has found his second passion working with students. He worked 10 years for a Non Profit called Citizen Schools serving youth in the Boston Public school system focusing on relationship building, community engagement and education reform, took on the role of Gang Prevention Coordinator in the City of Lowell, and worked in an admissions role at a local college in Boston all prior to joining the Bay State College team.
“Working at Bay State, I see our future leaders and feel the tangible results of their work on a daily basis,” says Sherman. “Bay State students are highly motivated and passionate, as they should be. This is what drives me to have that commitment to excellence and support them the best that I know how.”
