October 14, 2014

Bay State College President, Craig Pfannenstiehl, was honored for his tremendous contribution and service to MAB Community Services at the organization's annual meeting this past week. President Pfannenstiehl is stepping down from his title as the organization's Board of Directors President which he held for 5 years, making him the longest-serving Board President in MAB's history.

MAB Community Services has been creating opportunities for people with disabilities since 1903. Founded as the Massachusetts Association for the Blind, MAB is the oldest social service agency in the country providing services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Helen Keller served on their first advisory board, along with notable Bostonians Julia Ward Howe (author of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic") and Edward Everett Hale.

MAB’s mission is to work with individuals with disabilities to eliminate barriers and create opportunities. Their experience allows them to forge strong community partnerships so that they can meet the pressing need for high quality services and programs and transform lives.
